What kind of curtains for a tropical themed living room? Blinds+shades? I'm having a decorating crisis. My living room has cream/off-white walls (can't change them its an apartment), and these kind of dark, forest green couches (inhereted them & can't afford new ones; can't slipcover them they're recliners). Decided to do the living room in sort of an exotic tropical theme to justify all that green. For example we have a little tropical houseplant in one corner, little wooden tribal figurine, (also wood endtables) etc. What I can't figure out is what to do for curtains. The walls are too light to pull off white, brown makes the room too dark, the beige we looked at was too blah, and there is already too much green in the room to consider it on the curtains. I'm thinking of getting roman shades in a cypress or bamboo material, but would that look stupid over the venitian blinds that the apartment came with? I want to let a lot of light in and still have privacy (in the other rooms we pull the curtains back but leave the blinds down). Help!! Thanks!

Help!..Any way to get more privacy with bamboo roman shades? I have these bamboo roman shades in my large living room window and they go great with my decor but do not provide enough privacy and glare reduction (TV). I tried putting some curtains also but they just don't look as great as the simpleness of the shades...any suggestions on how to reduce glare and provide privacy while still using the shades?

Help!!! What to do with curtains in bedroom? I bought these orange curtains for my bedroom. I thought they would look really cool, but the problem is that I have turquoise blue walls, and it really didn't work out! I can't return them and my parents say that I have to use them, so what the heck do I do? Are there any cool ways to "put" curtains, so it doesn't look as hideous? Can I add something on them? What color curtains with pink carpet?? I've got white walls with dark wood trim and rose pink carpet. I like blinds but our original white ones weren't tough enough to withstand our household. I put up some natural colored bamboo roman blinds which actually complimented the pink but they are only semi private so, I really would like to have curtains drawn at night, maybe panels. A man I know just cut me some bamboo from the plants he has growing on his property.....? I am going to use them for curtain rods. I have to clean them up and then I need to finish them with something. Any suggestions? I am also wondering if I should sand them with a fine-grain sand paper before I stain, varnish or wax them. Could I use an oil, such as linseed, or possibly a nice wood wax? Has anybody ever done anything like this before? Maybe you could give me some hints?

Any ideas for a unique shower curtain rod and hooks? I am redoing my bathroom and I want a shower rod that is not so plain and traditional. The shower curtain is light gold and black with red Asian flowers on it. All I've seen so far are the typical chrome, gold, white, etc. straight shower curtain rods. How to cover a garage door from the inside? Curtains? I am moving into a two car garage that has been renovated into a nice studio apartment. Beautiful kitchen, wonderful bathroom, hardwood flooring, etc. Now the only drawback is that the city building codes prohibit the owner from building a wall over the garage door. The owner got a contractor to fully seal and insulate the garage door but the hardware is still on it (including on the ceiling) and cannot be removed....again, due to city building codes. I am planning to paint the metal hardware the color of the ceiling to sort of blend it in. Now how do I cover the garage door? Huge curtain? Some kind of bamboo panels? I have no idea! The owner is not very creative and neither am I. Just so you know, I'm decorating the place with a Provence theme....so it's feminine, simple yet elegant. Thank you!

decorating ideas for short square windows? i have three small windows right up next to each other in a row. they are about 24" x 24" each and all contained within one frame of woodwork. i am having the hardest time with window treatments for these windows. long curtains would look ridiculous and i currently have short curtains on them that look a little silly. i've tried bamboo blinds, but they don't offer much privacy, and i've tried 2" wooden blinds that are too wide for the frame. does anyone have any other decorating ideas that i might try?

I have a teensy budget (under 100$) and so far I have painted the towel holders, toilet paper holder and switch plates black. I also bought a black shower curtain with white skulls on it. I have a Jolly Roger Flag that I want to hang on the wall behind the toilet, since its the biggest wall to accomodate the flag. Bamboo flooring fading... Please help? About 6 months ago I installed some (what I now realize is pretty cheap) bamboo flooring in my living/dining room. I have two big sliders in the room, both with sheer curtain covering them. Just today I pulled up the area rug to clean the floor and realized there is a very noticeable fading around the perimeter of the rug. I am completely shocked. I knew nothing could really resist fading, but this is really bad. I have laminate bamboo which looks great, but obviously does not resiste fading well at all. Can you please tell me what options I have to 1) slow this process and/or 2) help lessen the existing fading so it's not so obvious (i.e. blend it somehow)? I don't know of anything I can do so any help from the gurus out there would be greatly appreciated.

Bedroom Set help? My room color is light greenish and I have brown bamboo wood dresser and bed. I want to make my room girly (im 16) but not like babyish. indoor plants? im looking to get more indoor plants. i currently have a bamboo that i've had for 4 years. my apartment gets pretty much no sun (curtains,sun doesnt come around to this side of house) so im looking for a plant that is fairly in expensive, wont harm my dogs and doesnt need much or any sun. any ideas?

It has a shower stall. The glass window is approx. 38" wide and 38" high. There is a mirror above two sinks then 1 mirror at garden tub. It's in a modular home and the ceiling are catherdal like. Cabinets are a light beech color. Right now I have a warm coffee cotton rug runner in there. Sea shell curtains (peach, sea green, browns,lt blue, yellow)on glass block window. Skylight light is 2ft wide by 3ft long.

Could I have OCD? I have some "symptoms" and I think I may have it. -In our kitchen we have these red and green bowls. If the pattern isn't Green, Red, Green, Red, ect. or Starting with Red, Green, Red, Green, ect. I go crazy. I have to have it like that. There can't be two reds touching or two greens touching or something like that. It really bothers me. -The speakers we have are on either side of the computer, and if they aren't straight, I fix them. It just bothers me. -In my room I have a bamboo-type curtain for my door, and I like each strand to be straight down. But, if two strands or stuck together, I go crazy and fix it. -I can't stand numbers that stop at places like... 44 and not 45. I know 45 isn't even but I call those kinds of numbers "even." I like the numbers, 1,3,5,10,15,20 ect. It goes by fives from there. I just don't like it when numbers stop anywhere else. Like, for the volume of the T.V, I stop it on 35, and not 33 or something. Could I have OCD? Or am I just Anal?

More Elaborate Beach Theme? Okay I asked this earlier and got good answers but I still want more so here is my question again: Okay, so my bedroom is "beach/Hawaii" themed we r moving in2 a new house and I want to go more elaborate with my interior desgining (yes I am young if ur wondering I am 13 years old) In my old room I had a bed comforter that is Hawaiian flower printed and I have that Hawaiin skirt thing around the edge of my bed. I also have this fake sandcastle decortated with real sand , I bought this in Maine when I was there with my friend and her family in the summer, and I have real seashells I used 2 set out. What else can I do to go more elaborate with this theme, I also have decrotive pillows tht r bright warm colors and I have these bamboo curtains 4 my windows. what else can I do to go more elaborate with the theme what other decrotations can I use in my bedroom.
