How do you remove grease from shower curtains?

My friend and I are at her dads house helping him clean the house. The house hasn't been touch since his late wife has passed away Nov. 1990. The tub is clean BUT the shower curtain is nearly black due to grease I suppose. How do you remove the stain from the shower curtain? I have tried vinegar, grease lightening, soap. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Ohhh throwing away was hte first thing I wanted to do, but he doesn't want to throw it away. I think he said, they paid something like $2 back then.

1. I would just throw it away and buy a new one, you can find really inexpensive ones. If you want to try to clean it, wash it in the washer in hot bleach water. If you have white towels throw a couple of them in there with the curtain.
2. Try oxi clean in warm water, and I won't ask how you got grease on your shower curtain. : )
3. If its black its mold and very old and could be dangerous. Through the thing out. Put it in the wash alone and bleach the hell out of it.

5. I agree with SusiQ... throw it away ASAP! Buy him a new one and tell him it's a gift for no special occassion, it's just because you love him.
6. If he is really attached to the icky thing (yuck) then, if it is cloth, toss it in the washer on warm water and wash with detergent and bleach. If it is plastic, then wash in cold water with a little bleach and two large bath towels. You’ll want to wash the bath towels in a separate load a second time afterwards. You can then put the curtain in the dryer on air dry, or just hang back up to dry.
