How do you use blackout fabric curtain lining?

I'm going to buy some blackout fabric curtain lining thats 145 in width and 100 in length. Do i just cut it in half and sew it on my curtains or is their an easier way to use them?

1. Cut it to fit the curtains and sew it on.
2. As the fabric will only be supporting its own weight you can make life easier by using a fabric adhesive if you want.
3. Much easier to put another rod behind your curtains and hang the lining separate. You will need to cut it and hem to size and add a rod pocket.
4. I put mine on a separate rod. If you attach the blackout fabric to the curtains, you will never be able to get any light through the window. Since mine are on a separate rod, I can darken the room when the sun in shinning through the windows during the summer, I don't use the blackout fabric during the winter.
